Studying Business Ethics and Employee-Organization Fit

3/31/2008
David Jones , Assistant Professor, will be presenting papers at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in Anaheim, California in August, 2008.

The first paper is regarding a study in which Dr. Jones found that Business Administration majors who received training in business ethics demonstrated advancements in their stages of cognitive-moral development relative to a control group.  In a second paper, Dr. Jones and his co-authors, Joseph Schmidt and Derek Chapman, of University of Calgary, conducted a field experiment in which they manipulated the wording of on-line job advertisements to emphasize different aspects of employee-organization fit.  Results showed that certain kinds of fit-information significantly increased the size and quality of the applicant pool for engineering and other professional positions.
