Dr. David Jones Elected Chair of Board of Directors for New Sudan Education Initiative
2/20/2008
Dr. David Jones, Assistant Professor of Management, has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for the New Sudan Education Initiative (www.nesei.org).
NESEI is a partnership between Sudanese and a global network of friends who have come together to bring the gift of education to Sudan to ensure a lasting peace and to help rebuild this war-torn nation. NESEI's objective is to build 20 secondary accelerated learning and leadership academies, located throughout Southern Sudan, by 2015. Their first school in Yei, South Sudan, will open to 150 students in late April.
NESEI's Board strives to contribute to NESEI's mission and objectives, and to ensure good governance, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility. The Board independently monitors NESEI's Co-directors, who run NESEI's day-to-day operations in the U.S. and in Sudan, to ensure their decisions and actions are in the best interest of NESEI and the Sudanese communities it serves.
