Windows 98:
Get an upgrade. Contact help@bsad.uvm.edu.
Windows 2000/XP:
Go to your Start Menu - Settings - Control Panel (On XP Start Menu - Control Panel)
Open Network Connections
You should see a connection called Local Area Connection.
If it is 'Disabled' then Right click it and select Enabled.
If it says 'Network Cable is Unplugged' then check your physical connection to the wall and to your computer. Also try a different network plug in the wall.
If it says 'Enabled' then
- Go to your start menu and click on Run
- Type cmd and hit enter
- In the Black MS-Dos window type ipconfig /release
- Then type ipconfig /renew
- You should now see a set of four number separated by periods after the phrase "IP Address………" if not you could have a hardware issue. Contact help@bsad.uvm.edu.
