Trying to publish your Web site or people can't see your web site?

Check each of these points:

1.  Do you have connectivity to your X Drive?

You need to do the following once:

1. Right click My Computer and select 'Map Network Drive'
2. Select a Drive Letter (does not have to be X)
3. In the Folder text box type file://marge/**YourUserName**
4. Be sure the Reconnect at Login check box is checked.
5. Click Finish.

2.  Is there a folder on your X Drive called "Web"?

This is where you need to publish your website too, into the root of this folder.  If there isn't a folder on X: drive labeled "Web", create one.

3.  Does Internet Guest have read permissions on your Web Folder?

Does a dialog box appear asking for a username and password when you try to view your Web site?  If so take the following steps:

1. Right click your Web folder on your X:\ Drive.
2. Go to the Security Tab
3. Click Add
4. Type Internet
5. Click Check Names
6. Select the first option Internet Guest Account
7. Click O.K.
8. Click O.K.
9. Click O.K.

4.  Did you name your home page "index.htm"?

If not, you will probably see something like:  "You do not have permission to view this page."  Open your website up in Front page and rename your main page "index.htm".  Don't forget to republish your web pages.

If you still cannot view your webpage on the internet, e-mail help@bsad.uvm.edu.  It's possible your Virtual Directory was not configured.
