Why Minor in Business Administration?

If admitted to the MBA program, you have the opportunity to complete an MBA in one year of full time study with careful planning. As an undergraduate you need to take only one additional course beyond the traditional minor requirements to have the eligiblity to pursue the one-year MBA option.

MBA In One-Year Option

If admitted to the MBA program, the prerequisite coursework for the MBA program would automatically be satisfied by complying with the prerequisite courses for the undergraduate Minor. With careful planning, it is possible to complete the MBA program in one year.

One-year MBA opportunity
: Students interested in the one-year MBA option must complete BSAD 120, 132, 150, 173, and 180. In addition, students need to apply and be admitted to the MBA program under regular criteria.  Additional questions regarding the one-year MBA option, can be directed to Associate Dean and Professor Michael Gurdon.

Why Minor in Accounting?

An accounting background is useful for many career paths. Most obvious are jobs directly related to accounting and finance. However, people in many other careers and in a variety of settings--corporate, small business, or not-for-profit organizations--find an understanding of accounting useful. The Accounting Minor allows you to better prepare for a career pursuing a non-business major.  Due to recent changes in the CPA licensure process, many students are opting to stay at UVM to earn the Masters in Accountancy degree (MAcc).  Additional questions regarding the MAcc can be directed to any member of the Accounting faculty.

How Do I Apply?

First, check with your own Dean's Office to determine if the Minor in Business Administration or the Minor in Accounting is accepted by your School or College and will be possible within your remaining degree requirements. Stop by 101 Kalkin to complete a Minor Application or download the application using the link provided at the top of this page. Once you have met the prerequisite requirements you will receive notification of your admissibility to the minor.
