Minor in Business Administration

Two minors are available for students with majors outside of the School of Business Administration, a Minor in Accounting and a Minor in Business Administration. For either minor, students need to submit an application and successfully complete the prerequisite courses. Applications are available in Student Services, 101 Kalkin Hall. To be awarded a Minor in Business Administration, a student must earn at least a 2.0 cumulative gpa in the Business minor courses.

Program of Study

PREREQUISITE COURSES

The four prerequisite courses must be completed with a GPA of at least a 2.0 before you can be admitted to the Minor in Business Administration.
  • ECON 11 - Macroeconomics
  • ECON 12 - Microeconomics
  • MATH 19 OR 21 - Calculus
  • STAT 141 or STAT 111 AND STAT 211 - Statistics*

*Economics Majors Only - ECON 170 can be used to complete the Stat requirement.

COMPUTER COMPETENCY

Students are presumed to have basic microcomputer literacy, including a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software. Students lacking this basic knowledge are responsible for attaining it through course work, self study, tutorials or workshops.

UPPER LEVEL COURSES

Students must complete four additional business courses numbered 100 or above. One of these courses must be selected from:

  • BSAD 132 - Legal & Political Environment of Business
  • BSAD 141 - Management Information Systems
  • BSAD 150 - Marketing Management
  • BSAD 173 - Production & Operations Management
  • BSAD 180 - Managerial Finance
MBA In One Year Option

If admitted to the MBA program, the prerequisite coursework for the MBA program would automatically be satisfied by complying with the prerequisite courses for the undergraduate Minor. With careful planning, it is possible to complete the MBA program in one year.

One year MBA opportunity
: Students interested in the 1-year MBA option must complete BSAD 120, 132, 150, 173, and 180. In addition, students need to apply and be admitted to the MBA program under regular criteria.
