How To Apply

Prague, Czech Republic

The following is an excerpt that lists the steps you should follow. New and updated information will continue to be added to this area.

  1. The process begins at the Office of International Educational Services in Living/Learning. Once you have registered, you will find a vast library of descriptions of programs and people who will help you.

  2. You need to pick up a "Study Abroad Record Sheet" from the BSAD Student Services Offices or from the Study Abroad Advisor. It is a record of progress through this process and provides places for required signatures. When this is completed a copy will be placed in your student file, a copy will go to the OIES, and you will retain a copy.

  3. Your next step is to meet with your Academic Advisor. If you are not certain who this person is, check with Student Services on the ground floor of Kalkin. With your academic advisor you will review your progress to date and develop a plan for your remaining time at UVM including your study abroad program. Your Academic Advisor must sign off certifying that the Study Abroad program you have selected meets BSAD and UVM requirements.

  4. Once you have selected a study abroad program, you will need to get pre-approval for all of the courses you want to take. This is a two step process that includes the Office of Transfer Affairs in Waterman and the Study Abroad Advisor. You will be asked to obtain full course outlines for each course you want to transfer into your BSAD program. Some may be on the various web sites but more often you will have to ask your host university to send them by fax. Most students take 2 or 3 business courses but it is a good idea to get more approved just in case there are problems when you arrive at your host university.

  5. The course approval process is to ensure that the course are junior-senior standing and are consistent with our program. This process will clearly establish the equivalent BSAD course. If there are problems as a result of course differences, you should check with your Academic Advisor.

  6. Once all of the above is complete, the Study Abroad Advisor will complete the signatures. This is to ensure that each of the steps has been completed.
