Business and Economics University of Vienna and the University of Vermont School of Business Administration

On October 22, 1996, the Provost and the Dean of the School of Business Administration jointly signed the formal documents creating an exchange agreement between the Business and Economics University of Vienna and the School of Business Administration.

One part of the exchange agreement will provide for two University of Vermont students to study in Vienna and two Austrian students to study at UVM. We anticipate the first Austrian students to arrive in the Fall of 1997. The Austrian University provides a rich English language and German language program in international business, with particular expertise in Central and Eastern Europe. Their program ranks as one of Europe's top business programs.

Normally you will take 2-4 courses (6-16 credits) in international business or related courses when studying abroad. Once approved by the School of Business Administration, these courses may be used to fill your concentration requirement. Non-business courses, if accepted by the UVM Office of Transfer Affairs, count toward distribution requirements or free electives. Transfer Affairs has a list of pre-approved business and non-business courses. You may need to gather and submit course information to the Office of Transfer Affairs, if a course has not been previously evaluated. Occasionally, approvals may be made conditional upon examination of course materials following return from study abroad.

For issues regarding business course credits, consult with the BSAD Study Abroad Advisor. Information on non-business course credits can be obtained from OIES, or through the Office of Transfer Affairs. You must earn a C or better, for a course to transfer. While only the credit transfers and not the grade, graduate programs and employers frequently ask for grades and consider them in their decisions.

You must complete a Study Abroad Approval form before leaving UVM. It is initiated by you through the Office of International Studies (OIES) once you are accepted to a study abroad program. On the form approval from OIES, your advisor, the Dean's Office, and transfer affair will be recorded. It ensures the appropriate offices are aware of your location and that you can receive credit for your coursework.
