Mr. Hall was raised in St. Albans, Vermont. He graduated from UVM with a B.S. in Business and a concentration in finance and accounting. Prior to finishing his studies at UVM, he spent some time playing professional baseball as a catcher at various minor league levels of the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankee organizations. When Mr. Hall determined that he would probably not make it to the major leagues, he decided to return to school, and he completed his degree in December, 1982.
Mr. Hall joined KPMG Peat Marwick in 1983 as a Senior Accountant. He moved to Avalon Corporation in 1985 as Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting. In January, 1988, he joined the United Artists group, where he served in various financial and accounting positions, including Vice President and Treasurer. By 1997 he was serving as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for the company. In 1998 he was named President and CEO of UATC, and when the company joined assets with Edwards Theatres and Regal Cinema, he took on his current position.
Mr. Hall enjoyed public accounting because of the "real life" business experience that he gained. He shifted over the years toward finance as he began to discover that he liked the finance side of business more than the accounting. He feels that his education and experiences in business gave him a strong enough background to pursue the executive track. As a CEO, it is his job to establish superior communications and to create an environment in which people can succeed and also in which his employees and shareholders will benefit. He believes that a strong culture, a good environment and effective leadership are all very important to a company's success. He also believes in the development of "softer skills" which are crucial in the business world. But perhaps most important is the need to create a balance between work and play. Having strong interests outside of your career helps you to be a better, more well-rounded employee.
