Business School Consortium

Representatives from the Business Schools of the Universidad de Queretaro, the Universidad Panamericana, Campus Guadalajara, Western Illinois University, Concordia University, and the University of Vermont will be gathering at the School of Business Administration on December 17th and 18th.

The purpose of this two-day event for the representatives is two-fold:

  1. To form a consortium and design a cooperative to promote student/faculty exchanges between the universities.
  2. To write a proposal for a four-year grant from the NAFTA North American Mobility Program

The theme of the grant, which is the largest agenda item during these meetings, is "Recreating Regional Economies."  The governments of Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. created the Mobility Program in the mid-1990s to encourage the movement of students and faculty among the NAFTA member institutions.  The business schools involved wish to use the grant to create teams of students and faculty that will study real-world cases with emphases on cross-cultural analysis, communication, and team-building skills.  Individual teams would consist of students and faculty from each participating university; therefore, the use of web technology and the internet will play a key role in the work of each team.
