Global Diversity Council

Dr. William Averyt, Director of the MBA Program, is establishing an MBA Global Diversity Council.  Several present and former MBA students will be invited to participate as members of the council.  Along with Dr. Averyt, the founding members include current MBA students, George Mina and Carlos Theye, and former MBA student, Buddy Singh.

The purpose of the organization is to help the MBA program incorporate global and diversity issues more effectively into the classroom.  As businesses become more internationally focused, it is important for them to understand the cultural and economic factors that affect business decisions.  By bringing these issues into the classroom, our MBA students will be better able to effectively apply this knowledge in the workplace.

The Global Diversity Council will also act as a bridge to the undergraduate community to discuss issues of global culture and diversity in the business world.  George and Buddy took part in one of the discussion sessions of the undergraduate Race and Culture seminar, EDSS 011, taught by Prof. Averyt.  Dr. Averyt is also hoping that the council can serve as a bridge between the program and the local international community by bringing in guest speakers and planning other types of educational activities.
