Three University of Vermont student-athletes have been named the America East Scholar-Athlete in their respective sports, two of them from the School of Business Administration.  One student-athlete is selected as the top student-athlete in each of the 21 sports the America East sponsors. The two Business standouts to receive the honor are Grant Anderson (Minnetonka, Minn.), men's basketball; and Dawn Cressman (Guelph, Ontario), women's basketball.

Anderson is the first men's basketball player from Vermont to be selected. A co-captain of the 2003 America East Champions, Anderson was the 'glue' on teams that won a school-record 21 games in back-to-back seasons and made the program's first appearance in the NCAA tournament. This winter he led the Catamounts in rebounds (third in America East) and assists and was named third team All-Conference. Anderson finished his four-year career tenth all-time at Vermont in rebounds and sixth in field goal percentage. With Andre Anderson, they set a school-record for most wins, 70, in their four years. A three-time member of the America East Academic Honor Roll earning a spot on the Commissioner's Honor Roll this year, Anderson's work in the classroom helped UVM have the highest team grade-point average among men's basketball teams in the conference the past two seasons. In May, along with earning his degree in Business Administration with a 3.22 GPA, he won the Semans Trophy for leadership, loyalty and service. Anderson will play professional basketball in Switzerland this fall.

Cressman finished her UVM career with a 3.49 GPA in Business Administration, and also excelled on the court. A four-time America East Academic Honor Roll selection, she was a two-time All-Conference selection and is one of only nine players to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds. The 13th player in UVM history to reach the 1,000-point milestone, Cressman finished her career tied for the all-time lead in games played, second in three-pointers made, sixth in free-throw percentage, seventh in rebounds, ninth in scoring and assists and 10th in free-throws made. During her four years, the Catamounts won two America East regular-season championship, one conference tournament title and two WNIT games. The Catamounts were 88-34 during her career. Cressman has been named to the Canadian Student National Team that will compete in the FISU Games in Daegu, Korea from August 20-31, 2003. She is also an alternate on the Canadian National Team that will compete at the Pan American Games in the Dominican Republic in early August.
