"The implications for New England businesses include being increasingly sensitive to age discrimination, managing productivity in a multi-generational workplace, placing more emphasis on ergonomics and the health and safety of an older workforce," said Professor McIntosh. "Public policy initiatives such as tax credits for workplace flexibility programs targeted at those 62 and over are also important because it is the older workers, as well as retirees, who will be needed if the economy experiences labor shortages in 15-20 years as predicted."
That meeting is scheduled to take place November 13.
Professor McIntosh was also invited to participate with a select group of thought leaders in an Executive Roundtable on the Future of Retirement. The discussion was hosted by the Society of Human Resource Management in Washington DC July 24.
