The School of Business Administration has as part of its mission, a directive to strengthen ties with the surrounding communities.  These activities take various forms, some of which are listed below.
  • The Vermont Council on Economic Education
The Vermont Council on Education's mission is to promote Economic Literacy and the teaching and understanding of economics in Vermont's schools.  The Vermont Council organizes workshops, seminars, courses, and training sessions for teachers and helps them incorporate curriculum materials produced by the National Council on Economic Education into their existing courses.  The curriculum includes, among other subjects, basic personal finance and economics for all grade levels, including lower and middle primary grades; applications of economics to U.S. and world istory, geography, civics, science, environmental studies, and math classes.  Materials are available to teach, for example, the benefits of international trade to primary school students and the use of cost-benefit analysis for classes on the environment.

The Vermont Council is funded through a major grant from the Freeman Foundation and the generous support of Vermont businesses.  Please send e-mail to the VCEE (vcee@bsad.uvm.edu) for more information.
