Organizations and Associations In this section, the human resources professional can find organizations and professional associations that are concerned with compensation. These organizations are valuable for their ability to promote networking, the conferences that they sponsor, the newsleters that they publish, and the information and resources that they control.
General Information This section provides a broad range of information about one of the most sensitive subjects in human resources management, compensation. The websites here provide information on compensation relative to geographic area, industry, for executives, tax considerations, pay for working women, and compensation information specific to non-profit organizations.
Salary Surveys This section contains a great deal of information useful to the Human Resources professional in analysis of financial remuneration. There are salary calculators to make quick comparisons between the costs of living in any two areas. There are many links to profession-specific salary surveys, and a large amount of tabulated data about regional and national average salaries by discipline compiled by the federal government.
Benefits Information This section provides links to a large number of sites containing information about employer sponsored benefit programs. The information includes advice on retirement pension and 401k program design.
Employee Leave This section is primarily concerned with the Family and Medical Leave Act. It has links to the Department of Labor and its ELAWS site, which helps employees and employers understand their rights and responsibilities under Federal employment laws.
Minimum Wage Information This section of the compensation site overviews the issues and facts associated with minimum wage. It provides detailed minimum wage data for the US and Canada as well as, more specifically, Vermont and Ontario. It also attempts to explain the difference between a minimum and a livable wage.
Retirement Information This site is broken up into four different subsections: General Retirement Information, 401K/403B, Pension, and Social Security. Each subsection has links to related organizations that can aid both the employee and employer in making retirement planning decisions. Both the beginner and the expert will find direction and information regarding everything from setting up a 401K to determining Social Security eligibility.
Employee Stock Ownership Plans These sites provide information about ESOPs and consultation services to assist a HR professional in the institution of an ESOP.
