How to use this website

Most of the literature on human resources talks about what Fortune 500 companies do, but little is mentioned about small business.  The goal of this website is to allow small organizations to review employment laws and human resources topics that are relevant to businesses their size.  There are nine separate content sections for this website, based on the number of employees in organization (these are the hyperlinks to the right of the speedometer on the home page.)  Clicking on any of these hyperlinks will bring you to subpages, each of which is divided into two parts:

Laws which you are
now required to follow

This section of the subpage alerts the user to employment laws that apply at different levels, based on the number of employees listed.  Several assumptions have been made regarding the laws, including that the organization is in a "generic" industry does not do business with the Federal Government.  Otherwise, several laws not included on this website may also apply.   Similarly, depending on the state(s) where the organization has a presence and the industry in which it operates, the laws may differ.  This site has been built on the premise that the most applicable laws are shown when they are most likely to apply.

Topics to think about
as you keep growing

This section refers to human resources topics that organizations should think about as they grow.  They are not urgent or legal matters, but they are important things to consider as your organization hires additional employees.

After you have visited a subpage, hit the back button on your browser to return to the home page, or alternatively, click on "Return to index" found at the bottom of each page.
