Transportation and Parking

Parking permits are required to park on campus.  Go to Parking and Transportation Services, or call 656-8686 to obtain current information and pick up your parking permit BEFORE orientation.  Their office is located on the ground floor of McAuley Hall, 250 Colchester Ave.  802 656-8686, regular hours: 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. To purchase a permit, students must be ‘active’ on our system.  If you have not returned your white card, please do so immediately. You will need:

  • Driver's License
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Payment in form of cash, check, or you may charge it to your student account
  • You MUST  have returned  the white Admission Card to Graduate College to be an active student

When you visit the Transportation Department, you will be able to select one of several Parking Permit options.  Each permit option has certain rules of access to specific parking lots and a certain fee schedule.  Parking and transportation will also share updated construction information.

With the appropriate permit, after 3:30 p.m., you may use the most convenient parking lot for the School of Business (in Kalkin Hall) in the Votey parking lot, located just to the west of Kalkin and surrounded by Perkins Hall, Torrey Hall, and Mansfield House, with an entrance driveway from Colchester Avenue.  This entrance is to the immediate west of the Fleming Museum.

Remember, if your parking permit, as displayed on your car, does not match the parking lot and the time of day where your car is located, the Transportation Department will ticket and/or tow your car.

Office hours during the semester:  Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

CAT Card

The CAT Card is your student ID. To obtain your card, go to the CAT Card center (802 656-4509) which is in the Davis Center.  You will need it to check out books from the library and to get into Kalkin Hall on weekends and during the week between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.  You may establish an account and put money in a CAT Scratch account and use the card in vending machines, at the bookstore, and other outlets on and off campus.  The CAT Card office is usually quite busy during undergraduate move-in weekend.  You may want to get your card earlier or later!

Billing

Student Accounting will send you an electronic bill based on the number of credit hours for which you are enrolled.  To view your current statement please log in to the UVM Student Information System.  Further questions about your account can be answered by calling Student Accounting 802 656-3170.
