Summer Courses at UVM

The list of summer courses being offered at UVM is usually finalized by mid-March, and is available online through Continuing Education, http://www.uvm.edu/~summer/

Non-UVM Courses

You may take courses away from UVM in the summer and transfer the credits back to UVM if you get the courses pre-approved. Approval is a two-step process.

1.  Contact the UVM Transfer Affairs Office

Once you determine the college or university and the course(s) you plan to take, contact the Office of Transfer Affairs (656-0867, 362 Waterman, transfer@uvm.edu). Courses need to be comparable in content and intensity to courses taught at UVM, and transfer credit is not awarded for grades less than C.

Although Transfer Affairs manages the transfer process, they might refer you to a department office for specific course approval. Information about the transfer credit process is available on the UVM Registrar's website - http://www.uvm.edu/~rgweb/.

Transfer Affairs also provides a Historical Transfer Guide online.  Using the guide students can search for Colleges and Universities by state and identify which courses have been already been evaluated for UVM transfer credit.  Historical Transfer Guide Information: http://www.uvm.edu/~rgweb/caveat.html

2.  Contact BSAD Student Services

Once Transfer Affairs has notified you of the equivalency, you need to check with Student Services to determine how and if the course will satisfy a degree requirement or elective.  Some courses that might transfer to UVM may not count towards your business degree.

General education (distribution) courses and free electives are typically approved. You must take business courses at UVM unless an exception is granted. Contact Student Services to start the permission process. If you get permission, the course(s) must be taken at an institution accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. A list of accredited schools can be found at: www.aacsb.edu.

Remember - It is your responsibility to see that the school you attend sends an official copy of your transcript directly to the UVM Office of Transfer Affairs. Only credits transfer, not the grade.
